Are You a Loyal Instacart Customer? Here’s Your Chance Now to Work for the Company

This billion-dollar venture needs to hire a particular type of specialist.

If you’re looking for well-oiled machines in the retail industry, Instacart is a great example.

Running an online grocery delivery and pick-up service is no joke, but somehow, Instacart has been pulling it off for a decade (and counting). Thanks to the digital know-how of founder Apoorva Mehta and a massive workforce of full-time and part-time employees, Instacart has become a go-to platform for no-frills grocery shopping.

Of course, no system is perfect. Every organization is bound to suffer a glitch or two occasionally, so it makes perfect sense to hire specialists who will focus squarely on tending to any boo-boos.

That’s especially important if said boo-boos are instances of fraud. Now that’s nasty! If stamping out fraud happens to be right up your alley, Instacart has a remote position that’s tailor-made for you!

The company is looking to hire a trust and safety specialist who will deal with fraudulent cases. Instacart can’t afford to have scams mess up its operations, so it’s looking for someone to nip such issues in the bud.

Background of the company

If you chart the growth of Instacart over the past 10 years, you’ll see exactly why trust issues can’t be allowed to ruin the experience for either customers or employees.

For starters, the success of this company was far from a given when it launched. A 2017 Los Angeles Times piece revealed that Mehta had 20 failed startup ideas before he founded Instacart.

Just three years after the company was launched, it got entangled in a class-action lawsuit alleging that “the workers who shopped for and delivered groceries were misclassified as independent contractors.” Instacart would later change the status of its shoppers to part-time employees, some of whom would even qualify for health insurance and other benefits.

As you can see, Instacart is doing its best to avoid suspicious activity within its ranks. Is it any surprise then that it has a remote job opening for a trust and safety specialist?

Responsibilities and qualifications

The primary duty of this specialist is to keep a close eye on the company’s daily shopping services in order to determine whether everything is on the up and up.

In particular, the trust and safety specialist will be performing the following duties:

  • Looking for patterns of fraudulent activity
  • Conducting in-depth investigations into suspected instances of fraud
  • Constantly checking the queue of shopper and customer appeals in order to determine priority cases
  • Coming up with options to resolve each case
  • Completing detailed reviews of live and historical data

As an applicant, you’ll have an edge over your competition if you’ve had one or two years of professional experience related to processing data and handling cases of fraud.
