Fact: Every human being needs food to survive. More subjective is how we prepare it for our personal consumption.
You could be super hands-on, forbidding every other member of your household to do the grocery shopping and restock the pantry. On the other hand, you might prefer the convenience of having one of those delivery services bring raw ingredients to your doorstep.
How about cooking skills? Some of us look like Rachael Ray, while others cook like Rachael Ray. There’s a difference.
With so many variables, you can imagine how crazy the food industry is. Fortunately for us, Home Chef is one heck of an equalizer. One of the biggest names in the meal kit market today, Home Chef has proven to be a fantastic option when it comes to both the procurement of ingredients and the cooking experience.
Even better, this company is hiring. Like, right now.
If food is your greatest passion (with customer service a close second), you can be Home Chef’s new customer experience associate. Trust us: This is a scrumptious prospect.
More on Home Chef
We’ve heard of software and content solutions, but meal solutions?
Pat Vihtelic, a former tech analyst for investment banks, didn’t mind rolling the dice. In 2013, he turned his passion for cooking into a startup that had little more than a website and a rented U-Haul truck.
The premise behind Home Chef was simple. As Vihtelic recounted in a 2018 interview with Built in Chicago, he’d take photographs of meals in his Chicago condo, post these online, and personally facilitate the delivery of food orders around the Windy City.
As Vihtelic beefed up his financial resources and gained access to better facilities, his company grew impressively. Just two years after its launch, Home Chef was shipping out 20,000 meal kit boxes on a monthly basis. In 2017, the company’s revenue was pegged at $255 million—a 60% increase on an annual basis.
The very next year, retail giant Kroger acquired Home Chef for $200 million, promising to pay up to $500 million over the next five years if Home Chef meets certain growth targets. Assisted by Kroger’s massive distribution channels, Home Chef became an even more popular brand in the food industry.
How popular, you wonder? In 2021, Home Chef crossed the $1 billion sales mark. At present, the company brings more than 7 million meals to hungry individuals and households each month.
